— TAX PLANNING & STRATEGY
Plan ahead for more than tax season.
Changing income, tax-free stipends, quarterly payments, business income, and major financial decisions can make it hard to know what’s coming. Strategic tax planning helps you decide what to set aside, what moves to make, and what to expect before tax season arrives.

You make good money. So why does tax season feel like a gut punch?
SOUND FAMILIAR?
You got full paychecks all year, then owed thousands in April.
You have a preparer who only looks backward — never plans ahead.
You don't know if your income, retirement contributions, or business structure are actually working for you.
You are making good money and still feel behind.
Tax planning gives you the opportunity to make changes while there’s still time, instead of discovering the problem when your return is being prepared.
Planning for every stage of your career.
-

JUST GETTING STARTED
Start on solid ground
You're navigating your first travel contract, starting a business, or earning self-employment income for the first time.
I make sure it's set up right, from the start.
-

ESTABLISHED PROFESSIONAL
Catch what was missed
You think you have it figured out. Sometimes there are mistakes you do not know about yet.
I find them and fix them.
-

HIGH EARNER / OWNER
Keep more of what you earn
You're earning more, but your tax strategy may not have kept up.
I fix the setup, and you keep more of every dollar.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
Tax planning is more than filing a return.
-
Withholding & payment strategy
I review your withholding or quarterly payments and help you adjust them based on your income and expected tax liability, so you are not surprised in April.
-
Retirement strategy on variable income
Contract, commission, or self-employment income is uneven. I help you use tax-advantaged retirement contributions to reduce what you owe.
-
Entity, deduction & income timing strategy
I review whether your business structure and deductions are working for you and identify tax-planning opportunities based on the timing of your income and expenses, so you're not paying more tax than necessary.
-
Year-round check-ins
I catch issues while there's still time to act on them — not after the year is already closed.
— STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?
Before you start planning
-
No. Tax planning is available as a standalone service, so you do not need to use me for tax preparation. I can review your situation, help you plan ahead, and provide recommendations you can use with your current tax preparer.
-
No — while my specialty is travel healthcare, I also help real estate investors, small business owners, and self-employed individuals with tax planning. See all services →
-
No. Determining where to file is part of tax preparation, and stipend/tax home qualification has its own dedicated review. Planning picks up from there — it's about what you do with that information going forward.
-
Your engagement starts with a planning session to review your situation, followed by a written summary of your recommendations. From there, I stay available for check-ins throughout the year as your income, contracts, or circumstances change, so your plan stays current, not just a one-time snapshot.
-
Tax planning starts at $500 and varies based on the complexity of your situation, the planning strategies involved, and the level of year-round support you need. You'll know the scope and price before we begin.

A quick example of what planning catches
Sarah is a travel nurse who earned $100,000 last year. At the start of her contract, she marked “exempt” on her W-4, so no federal income tax was withheld from her paychecks. She received larger paychecks throughout the year and assumed everything was fine.
Then April came. Her tax bill was $22,000. Her savings were $1,500.
A tax planning review earlier in the year could have identified the withholding problem, estimated what she was likely to owe, and helped her adjust her W-4 or make estimated tax payments — turning a $22,000 surprise into a number she could plan for.
Sarah is a hypothetical example. This is general tax information, not personalized advice.
